Carla: Hi, Peter. I'm Carla. I'm new here.
Peter: Welcome to the company, Carla.
Carla: Thanks, Peter. I'm happy to be here and it's nice to meet you.
Peter: It's nice to meet you too.
Carla: Where do you work?
Peter: I work in the design team. We sit over there.
Carla: I'm in the marketing team. I started last week.
Peter: You work in marketing? That's very interesting.
Carla: Yes, it is. I'm enjoying it. But there are a lot of new things to learn.
Peter: I'm sure there are. I'm happy to help you if I can.
Carla: Thank you, Peter. What do you do in the design department?
Peter: I design new products.
Carla: That sounds interesting. I plan marketing events for new products. So I think we'll work together sometimes.
Peter: That would be great. So, where are you from, Carla?
Carla: Brazil. And you?
Peter: I'm from the UK.
Carla: How long have you been here?
Peter: I've worked here for three years but I actually moved here from the UK five years ago, to study.
Firstly, I ask for their name. Then ask them what they do (school, university, work, occupation, etc.). I will ask them for their age so I would know if the person is older or younger than me and call them with honorifics like Sir, Miss, Ma'am, or just their names if they are younger or prefered to be called without honorifics. Then I ask them where they come from (which city or which country).
What do you usually talk about when you meet people for the first time?
I usually talk about sports, I prefer don't talk about work. I like to listen to about the sports that they practice.
I usually talk about where do you live and where are you come from
I usually talk about where do you live and where are you come from
When I meet someone for the next time, I ask that person about her/his name, job or study, where is he/she working in?,where is he/she from?,her/his family status, her/his hobbies, where does he/she live now?
I ask first what is their name, obviously and what they do, where they are from and then what they like to do to pass the time or if they like the cinema, since that’s what I like to talk about
I usually talk about countries he/she lives and he/she/they job(s).
I'm quite a friendly and open-minded person, I usually make friends everywhere. I have also a lot of conversations with everyone. And I also have the most impressive conversation with a person who is my best friend now. His name is Dang. The first time I meet him is in a coffee shop. When he asked me some physics questions, I helped him deal with them, so we became friends with each other. We asked each other about personal information such as name, age, social networking account,... etc. And that night, we also talked to each other very much, and we played the game together. And now, we are best friend.
I think I will ask them about their names, age, and if they have social media accounts i take their instagram.
I usually talk about age, birth, nationality, jobs, hobies.
