Can you believe it? Someone in another group asked me to write some pages of their website in English and French. But they can't pay because 'I'm starting this business with no money.' He said he's a professional photographer and he can do some photos for me instead. Am I wrong to be angry?

Asher87

Nope! I’d be angry too

JayCee99

I can't help but here's the link to a friend's website. He is a French–English writer and translator www.franco-anglo-translations.com/About

Carla62

Er … asking people to work for free … not cool!

Asher87

^^^ This!

JayCee99

Oops! I thought you were looking for someone. Sorry for the misunderstanding smiley

Carla62

I can't pay my rent with photographs, sorry

Katie20

Exactly!

Mylo45

True, but professional photos cost a lot of money, especially if you're getting married. Sorry I don't speak French or I would do it cheeky

Katie20

Here's a link to his photography if anyone wants the job www.billsphoto.com/portfolio As you can see the website needs some work … wink

Carla62

@Mylo45 Maybe, but people always ask writers to work for free #PayMe

Katie20

Yep, if I need photos OK but I prefer to get paid with money

Tips

1. Writing in online forums is more like speaking.

2. You don’t have to put full stops (.) at the end of sentences.

3. Use ^^^ to show you’re talking about the post above yours.

4. Use @ and a person’s name to show clearly who you’re replying to.

5. You can use emojis.  cool

6. Stay calm and be polite. Some people get angry in online discussions but try to avoid that.

I have participated in many discussion forums. For example, in high school and university classes, I talked with my classmates and sometimes professors. This is something that happens on a daily basis, but the unusual and impressive conversation is a group discussion held during high school and university entrance exams. It's not an interview. This was an exam to see how much cooperation and leadership I had .I think that the group discussion is also a place where I can present my thoughts and listen to other people's opinions, incorporate them and broaden my horizons. I think it would be better to gather opinions from various people. I think this will be necessary not only within the university but also in the future for group discussions. Coronavirus has now led to online classes and avoided face-to-face classes. In online classes, I could talk through video calls, but I thought I could talk more about what I wanted to talk about if I met him in person. So, I want to come to a conclusion and have a group discussion in person.

Yes. I have participated in discussion forums several times in the past. The reason why I have participated is that I had the opportunity to hold such group discussions in university classes. For example, We can think of a new pizza product as a group, or we can think about English question as a group in an English class. However, recently, the number of opportunities to participate in such discussion forums has decreased. The reason why this is that around March of this year, the coronavirus became prevalent in the world, and we have become an online lesson at home instead of going to school to prevent infections. Since online lessons are not face to face lessons, it is very difficult to hold discussion forums, and it is only possible to take lessons. However, recently,I had a chance to participate in the discussion forum. As one of the activities of a student support group, my friends introduced that university students all over Japan have the opportunity to zoom in and discuss life at school and various issues in Japan today. It seems that it will be held next time, so I would definitely like to participate.

Yes, I recently had some opportunities to participate in online discussion forums. I have never participated in an online discussion forum until now, but this year I am using an online discussion forum in my lessons because it became an online lesson due to the spread of the coronavirus. When I tried using this, I found it very convenient to be able to comment freely at my own timing. However, what can be done at one's own timing makes it difficult for some people to participate in the comment, so the development of the discussion is difficult. In addition, it is difficult to develop the discussion because it is a conversation with characters. I often participate in online discussion forums because the good points of text conversations are comments, so I think that it is suitable for discussions with a large number of people because I do not miss the conversation. Also, in the case of text conversation, translating is easier than conversation, so I think that it is suitable not only for people in the same country but also for people in other countries. I thought that it would be good if more schools and companies increased the use of online discussion forums.

Yes I do. Recently, I have an opportunity that join online discussion forums. There are two reasons. First, we have to take classes at home due to the spread of corona virus, so I often use online discussion forums in the class. Second, we are now living in the internet society with the development of social media. As a result, online discussion forums are becoming on a regular basis of us. I think that online discussion forums are very convenient and easy means that I discuss in the class or not. Therefore, I often join online discussion forums.

I think joining Discussion forums is very very interesting. Beside it's a great opportunity you can practice your writing and speak up what you want to say. It's also a place you can listen to varying opinions from everyone, not just in your culture but all the places in the world. I'm a Reddit fan, and I find there are so many fascinating things. Not just for entertainment but also seeing other country's problems such as #blacklivesmatter, or women harassment problem in Egypt, etc. Our generation is becoming more and more globalization. I think we should somewhat understand other countries' cultures and always keep an open mind.

Discussion Fourms could be beneficial for the person who has a job require him to convince other people, for instance sales representatives it could be a nice training for him nevertheless personally I prefer to conduct decisions face to face it would give me the opportunity to read other people's expressions and body language. Sometimes body language tells you how much people believe in what are they saying.

Yes.I like large-scale discussions. There are some advantages. First, the fact that there are many people means that there are many opinions. You may come up with a good idea that you cannot think of. In fact, I've had this kind of experience. You can also vote for a large number of people, so you can even distinguish things equally. However, if there is a time limit, the speaking time of each person may be shorter as the number of people increases, and it may be difficult to hear the opinions of all. If you consider it, a small group discussion is recommended. The small group discussion allows you to discuss the details in a one-on-one manner, so you can discuss until you are satisfied with each other. Recently, the number of online discussions has increased, and I was wondering "Is it possible to conduct solid discussions through a computer?" However, I could see the face and hear the voice on the computer, so I was able to discuss safely. All in all, the debate itself is a very valuable meeting where you can learn about different ideas and opinions. So I wanted everyone to have a positive discussion.
