Playing Rules
You are given a random assortment of 16 letters in a 4x4 grid and are set a time limit of 3 minutes. In that time you must spell as many words as possible. The words, of course must be real words, spelt correctly as checked against the word list of 52,000 words and must contain between 3 and 7 letters. A letter cannot be used twice in the same word.
When forming your word, you can select letters from any position as long as you follow the spelling order.
Scoring
Points are awarded depending on the number of letters in the word (the "Qu" cube counts as two letters).
3 letters = 1 point | 4 letters = 2 points | 5 letters = 3 points |
6 letters = 4 points | 7 letters = 7 points |
Hello, I'm so sad!! From two days when I open the page all the screen stays pink without the game pattern. What can I do?!? Thank you
Hello tugi,
Yes, there does seem to be some kind of technical problem here.
Thanks very much for letting us know. I will pass this along to our technical team right away. We'll get it fixed as soon as we can.
In the meantime, the game seems to be working on LearnEnglish Teens -- you can play it there for now if you'd like.
All the best,
Kirk

Good game – but SO slow to register when you type a letter in, which makes it extremely frustrating. Also it rejects several words which will be found in any dictionary
Hallo and I do thank you for your resources, which I regularly use with my students.
Trying Wordshake this morning, my students and I would like to suggest to highlight the words which have already been used.
Thank you very much.

Hello gioturrini5,
Thank you for letting us know and for your suggestion!
I will make a note of this and I imagine we'll implement it if possible, though I'm afraid it will take some time if so.
By the way, I just wanted to mention that you might find our sister website LearnEnglish Teens useful as well.
Best wishes,
Kirk

Hi msdebrahayes,
Thanks for your message. Sorry, but the game only works by clicking on the letters on the screen. It doesn't allow keyboard input, but we'll keep this in mind for future versions.
Best wishes,
Jonathan

Hello Elli,
I'm afraid I don't know, but I'll look into this. Though I'm afraid I won't be able to do that until sometime in January. Sorry!
All the best,
Kirk
