Subject: Summer travel grant

Dear Sir/Madam,

I'm writing to express my interest in the summer travel grant that was advertised in this month's university magazine.

I am a second-year student and I am planning to study English in New York for three weeks in July. I would like to apply for the travel grant to help me with my expenses.

Could you please send me further details, including how to apply and when the application deadline is?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards,

Merry

Tips

  1. If you don't know the person's name when writing a formal email, you can start it Dear Sir/Madam.
  2. Your email should have three short main paragraphs:
    1. What you are interested in
    2. Why you're interested
    3. Any questions you have.
  3. I look forward to hearing from you is a good way to close an email if you want a reply.
  4. Regards is a semi-formal, respectful way to end an email. It is common in professional emails too.

I would like to study English in the UK because I'm in love with the British pronunciation, which I find truly beautiful. Additionally, if I were to start learning German, I would like to study it in Berlin, and perhaps in two other cities like Hamburg, Leipzig, or Munich to experience the differences.

I would like to study Spanish in Spain, I grew up in a country where spanish influence was so extensive even its culture and language is interwoven in our way of life, customs and traditions. I'd like to know more about the culture and the language. I've always been eager to learn a new language, I would never pass up a once in a lifetime opportunity like studying abroad.

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am writing in response to the Spring Travel Grant that was advertised in the School Homepage.
I am a 3rd Year student and I am planning to study Spanish in Spain for 3 weeks in March. I would like to apply for the travel grant to help me with my travel expenses.
Could you please send me further details, including how to apply and when the application deadline is?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Grace

If I have a chance, I would like to go UK for learning languages and work as a professional accountant in my future. I really admire and love that country. But My language skill is not much good and I am already over 30. I don't think it is possible for me.
